My Workshop
My Workshop
If I were a furniture maker, I would show you some chairs, tables, or other pieces which I made (and hope to sell). But, I am a writer. I make things out of words.
May I show you some of my work? Naturally, I hope you find personal resonance with some of these pieces. And, of course, I hope some of you will say, “Hey, Ed, could you make...?”
By clicking on the buttons below, you will find of the reviews, essays, op-eds, and other commentaries. Just as with any showroom, these pieces will be exchanged with others from time to time.
What Others Say...
I am grateful for and humbled by the responses of others to pieces I made over the years. I offer the following comments for the authors and editors out there who may be inclined to consider me as a writer for their pages and purposes.
Ed Chinn is an artist; he expresses so eloquently what a lot of us feel. I stand in admiration for his writing gifts and his connection to The Source.

I admire the way Ed Chinn’s mind works -- all the more because we tend to have different default positions on many of the big public squabbles. Whether in person or in his writing, Ed makes it easy for me to examine what he sees because I never have to worry that he's trying to sell me something. His readers have learned what I know: that Ed is not only a clear and insightful thinker, but also a trustworthy man.

Whenever I have an article or musing from Ed Chinn waiting in my inbox, I'm sure to take time to read it. He is honest (too rare in the world of religious writing!), intelligent (sadly, also too rare!), and unfailingly interesting (not all that common either!). I highly recommend that you pay attention to all that comes from his refreshing and stimulating perspective.

Ed brings to all his writing a special ability to capture the essence of an idea and offer it to the reader like a friend chatting in the living room.

What a perfect, pristine piece of journalism. My dad was a newspaperman, as was my grandfather. I like to think I'm a pretty good writer myself. But this essay is one of the best pieces of writing I've ever read. It's one of those inspired pieces that makes me want to be better at what I do. It's a privilege to be able to post it on my site.
